daily routine

Recently, I received some questions on Formspring asking about my skin and all. I was really flattered by the comments like about how nice my skin texture is, it looks flawless etc. Frankly speaking, no I do not have a flawless skin but if you were to compare me with most Singaporean guys - Yes, i'd admit mine is of average or slightly above average. Don't you just hate it when you did cleanse your face, use toner, moisturizer etc. DAILY but still get pimples?! Puberty is so annoying.

The pictures of me that you're gonna see are shot with 100% natural sunlight. Yes, I do not have a perfect skin. Before you continue reading, I must say that i'm not a professional dermatologist and the advice that i'm giving ahead are based on what I experienced. I personally think that if you judge someone's skin through photos, it wouldn't be accurate. I personally think my skin doesn't look like that at all in person - yes, it's way more horrible.

CLEANSER AND TONER

L'OREAL PARIS White Perfect Transparent Rosy Whitening.

I must say that this is actually pretty good. I'm not sure about the whitening part but the texture is really smooth and just by squeezing out the size of smaller than a 10 cents coin, I can already wash my entire face. I guess because it's milky foam?

NIVEA VISAGE Deep Pore Control Toner.

Just a normal toner, it leaves a very matte finish but my face gets oily few hours after using it. I'm gonna change to a new toner soon, so if you all have any to recommend, do drop me a comment!

PIMPLE CREAMS

OXY 5 and Acne Clear

I honestly do not like OXY 5 cause I can literally feel my skin burning whenever I apply it on my pimple. The cream is also kinda watery and thin. It does help in drying the pimple but I do not like the whole entire feeling of the process. The cream honestly looks like semen, I wonder if it's even safe to apply it on my face but oh well.

This is my FAVORITE pimple cream! The cream is freaking thick, it's a skin tone colored cream and it's just awesome. I really like how it's thick and not watery. I actually used this on a fresh pimple (the cream dried up 10 mins later) I washed it off, applied it again and repeated the process for about 5~6 times. Then before heading to bed, I applied it again.. Guess what happened the next day? The pimple size went from . to . hahahah, it's really that effective, at least for me.

Look, the texture is SO THICK. It looks like foundation and after you spread it out evenly, you can't see anything cause it's your skin color!

MOISTURIZER

Neutrogena Men Oil-Control Hydrator and Johnson's 24 Hour Lasting Moisture Body Lotion

I know this is a body lotion but I still apply it on my face (LOL). It smells really really good, like really good. I wish I could let you guys smell it through the computer but sadly technology isn't that advanced yet.

I personally think that hydrating is a MUST, even if you have oily skin. Get yourself a oil-control/oil-free hydrating moisturizer if you have oily skin cause to keep your skin hydrated is very important!

MASKS

St Ives Mineral Firming Clay Mask
If you guys are looking for pore minimizing and firming mask, I recommend the St Ives clay mask. It gives this warming sensation and you can really feel your entire skin getting tightened up - You won't be able make expressions when the mask dries up on your face.

My Beauty Diary Aloe Mask
The brand of this mask is perfect. The essences in the packet is just nice, which means when you take out the mask - it won't have those excess liquid flowing out which leads to a huge mess! I heard the black pearl mask is amazing, so i'm going to try it after I finish using this.

Masking is really really important cause it's when you hydrate, get back all your vitamins, minerals etc. to your face. Of course, too much too good is bad - You can only use it once every 2~3 days and make sure you don't smile while using it otherwise you'll get wrinkles haha. So yes, these are all the products that I use. If you did notice, I left out my scrub. I actually exfoliate my skin using salt and toothpaste.

All you have to do is squeeze a little toothpaste (any brand will do) and add salt to a bowl, mix it thoroughly and tadah! You get yourself a scrub. It's said to believe that salt will help kill germs and all so yea, I use it once every week and it works for me. It might not work for you so if you do not want to take the risk, get yourself a proper scrub!

Here's a few tips for whiteheads. Whiteheads, also known as milia, are small bumps that are white at the tip and are filled with pus. Bacteria and dirt in the air mix with the oils, causing whiteheads and acne to form. Whiteheads are different than blackheads – whiteheads can turn into blackheads if they are opened up and not treated properly.

Tips on how to properly treat whiteheads:

1. Gently cleanse your face, neck, back, and anywhere else you may have whiteheads two to three times a day. Use a gentle face cleanser for any affected areas – not regular bar soap!

2. If you need to pop a whitehead, take a sharp point of a sterilized needle and poke a hole in the center of the whitehead. Then using two fingers (not fingernails!) or two soft q-tip heads, gently squeeze out the white pus from the whitehead. Stop if clear liquid or blood comes out.

3. Do not pick at whiteheads. Doing so will cause the whiteheads to spread to other areas of the body.

4. Use oil-free cosmetics and skin care products. Paraben-free and fragrance-free products are better to use as well.

5. Don’t wash your face or body more than 3 times a day because you can actually breakout more from over washing.

6. Avoid processed foods and foods high in fat, oils, or sugars. Eat lots of fruits and veggies and lean proteins.

7. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day to keep your body hydrated. This will in turn, help keep your skin clear. Try not to have too much water few hours before your sleep otherwise you'll get huge eye bags and a bloated face when you wake up.

8. Don’t sleep on oily or dirty hair because these oils will get into your skin, clogging your pores and causing you to breakout more.

If you do not wish to risk by squeezing it and getting scars or what not, then apply pimple cream and wait it to go away slowly! (I suppose?)
That's all, have a great week ahead guys! x
